Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

They essentially manage the land and secure leases so that oil and gas can be drilled. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, camps, install backhoes, and drill the wells themselves, especially in remote locations. They are also part of the fixer, problem solver, and support person.

Landman is my first Taylor Sheridan series, so I don’t have the expectations that come with being a Yellowstone fan. So far, the main storyline has been engaging and exciting, but not over the top. There are a few subplots in the episodes that work well, but maybe one of them detracts from the overall quality of the show.
The cast is well cast
The visuals are amazing; it should be a pleasure to direct and create the environment. It would be interesting to hear what people in the industry think about the realism of the field scenes. Billy Bob Thornton is exemplary and really carries the show well.
Overall, a very good series, well-made visually and superbly acted
