Only this time, the fight isn’t for himself; it’s for his family
When a sinister threat from his childhood comes back to haunt him, a father desperately struggles with his deepest inner fears. This is the first PG-13 horror film to feature the Lionsgate Red Gears logo since Possessed (2012). Patrick McKee: Since we got back, I’ve been talking about Jake’s capture.
Bagman is basically the definition of a generic horror movie
Almost everything it tries has been done before, and audiences are tired of these tropes. The evil entity tries to lure a young child away from his parents, who are too ignorant to fight back effectively. There are cheap thrills, weak surprises, silly characters, and a child who sounds eerily similar to Gage Creed from Pet Sematary (1989).
Perhaps most frustrating is the parents’ irrational behavior
If your child seems to be in danger and your home is being broken into multiple times, you should definitely stay close to your child. However, these parents do a remarkable job of ignoring their child or keeping a considerable distance, allowing the person to enter the house unhindered. There’s also the typical exposition dump and one of the most generic modern horror plots imaginable.
While there were a few moments that I appreciated, overall it’s far from good
However, to be honest, I liked this unit and I think there was some potential to make a decent horror film using it as the antagonist. . Unfortunately, the film fails to stand out among all the horror that’s being released today, so it’s hard to imagine that many people will enjoy it. [5.2/10]
